Gin starts with juniper – but then the choice of herbs, roots, and spices is up to the distillers and the styles they seek. There are juniper-forward gins – often called London Dry – as well as gins that emphasize citrus or floral flavors – sometimes called Botanical or New Wave.

Dave Hendrickson will lead us through this world of gin, explaining its history and exploring the various styles, including the styles he is seeking in his first Sidewinder gins. Feel, smell, and taste some of the many exotic herbs, roots, and spices that go into its making.

And no gin tasting would be complete without tonic. Dave will explain the origins of tonic, and sample us through some of the finer ones.

Class members will sample a selection of gins and tonics and, in the end, create their own signature blend.
