2011 Founder’s Collection Cabernet Sauvignon awarded 90 points by Wine Enthusiast Magazine
In awarding the wine 90 points, editor Virginie Boone writes, “Juicy with ripe tannins, it tastes lovingly hand-crafted, detailed and focused in black currant, berry and leather. Though rich and luxurious it retains ample natural acidity to buoy its way through a meal or through several years of aging.”
Thank you Virginie, for recognizing our wine as ‘lovingly handcrafted,’ for indeed we do hand craft our wines with love and patience, and tremendous respect for the Livermore terroir.
What differentiates true hand crafted wines from the more mass produced, larger brands? Please see my blog entry, “Not all Wines are Vins de Terroir.”
In her June 23rd Contra Costa Times column, Mercury News wine and food reporter Jessica Yadegaran highlighted our Zinfandel in a column “Five Wines for 4th of July: Surefire Vino to Pair with Grilled Food.” She wrote, “Occasio Del Arroyo Vineyard Zinfandel (Livermore Valley) – Several cool vintages in Livermore have resulted in wonderfully integrated expressions of zinfandel, and the 2011 vintage is no different: ripe with spicy cherry and wild berry flavors with just a tinge of toasted oak. The finish is long and full.”
With this news, our Zinfandel rapidly sold out, and is no longer available through our winery or website. However, you can still find it on the menu at Underdog Wine Bar and Campo di Bocce in Livermore. Look for the release of the next vintage sometime in Spring of 2015.
