Smoking Bishop
December 15 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
‘…and we will discuss your affairs this very afternoon, over a Christmas bowl of Smoking Bishop, Bob!’ Dickens – A Christmas Carol
Gather with friends old and new this holiday season for our annual Smoking Bishop extravaganza!
On Sunday, December 15th from 1-3pm, join us at Sidewinder as we explore the origins and preparations of these warming, festive punches that have been holiday staples for centuries.
We’ll start with a classic winter warmer – hot mulled wine. With just a few simple ingredients you likely have on hand, we’ll show you how to make a delicious, mulled wine that will fill your home with the aromas of cinnamon, citrus, and cloves.
Then we’ll dial up the cheer with a Scandinavian twist – glogg. By infusing the wine with brandy and fortifying it with port, this punch packs a festive punch. We’ll share tips on balancing the flavors to create the perfect holiday treat.
For those who prefer something a bit stronger, you won’t want to miss our recipe for hot buttered rum. Warming and smooth, it’s sure to get even Scrooge saying, “God bless us, everyone!”
And what would a Smoking Bishop class be without the namesake drink itself? We’ll craft this ancient sipper that traditionally combines port, oranges, sugar, and spices. One taste and even the Grinch’s heart will grow three sizes!
