Meet the New Wines for Summer 2020

We knew we had something special when we tasted through these new wines. We came to appreciate that these are among the best wines we have released to date. Each one is striking – a balance between complexity, vibrancy, and purity. These wines are accessible now but continue to improve with aging.

Our 2016 Heritage Cabernet Franc headlines the release. Wine Enthusiast rated this wine 92 points in the most recent issue, writing

‘powerful fruit flavors meet spicy oak and a good, firm texture in this concentrated and well-balanced wine from a tine, quality-focused producer. The tasty black-cherry and tobacco notes have great depth and length. Best through 2026.’

If this weren’t enough, this wine took Double Gold and won Best in Class honors in this year’s Livermore Uncorked wine competition. (100% Cabernet Franc).

Our 2017 Founder’s Merlot is a solid contender. As with all of our Thatcher Bay fruit, this wine displays concentrated cherry and cassis flavors with an abundance of fine grained, velvety tannins. A back blend of 10% Petit Verdot gives this wine an elegant, lingering finish.

Our 2019 Founder’s Chardonnay is a stunning successor to our highly lauded 2018 vintage. Dave continues to perfect his knowledge of Del Arroyo Chardonnay – crafting it in an age-worthy Burgundian style. This vintage has excellent concentration and layering that spreads almond, cream, and poached pear across the taste buds. Lemony acidity keeps the wine lively and focussed.

We look forward to sharing these new wines with you in the coming weeks.
