What we’re eating

We’ve been making breakfasts more often, so thought we’d brighten your morning with this simple delicious recipe for blueberry muffins.

What we’re drinking

Wine wise – we’re really enjoying our Cabernet and Rosé this week. If the weather stays warm this weekend, expect to see a few of us enjoying our Summer Sling.

This Too Shall Pass is the hot cocktail favorite this week. See the video below to see how it’s made.

What we’re reading

The worldwide shutdown is unprecedented. Sharon Begley and Hyacinth Empinado give us a little perspective on the seriousness of the pandemic in their recent article, ‘It’s difficult to grasp the projected deaths from Covid-19. Here’s how they compare to other causes of death.’ Their insight is particularly important now as we take steps to reopen the economy.

I don’t know about you, but I am four weeks past due for a haircut. I’m holding out, but for those of you who want to take matters into your own hands you might enjoy reading Kari Molvar’s piece in the WSJ. She interviews the experts and helps us avoid common grooming mistakes.

What we’re watching

This week we introduce you to excellent but possibly overlooked shows. Now streaming:

Dickensian – on Amazon Prime. This ten part series explores the fictional realm of Charles Dickens in a ten episode series that brings together his greatest characters.

Self Made – on Netflix. This is the true story of Madam C J Walker, the first female self-made millionaire.

The Little Shop of Horrors – on Voleflix, a free service for those who don’t subscribe to anything.

Each week we will continue to search for things that will keep you entertained and informed during lockdown. If you have ideas you would like to share please email us – we’d love to see them.

As always, stay safe.
