The Pink Squirrel
The Pink Squirrel is a classic from the 1940s. The original recipe called for creme de Noyaux, a difficult to find liqueur that really had only on purpose – this cocktail. Because of this, the Pink Squirrel disappeared from most menus – largely because it was difficult to find a substitute liqueur that would provide both the almond flavor and the pink color.
Now, the Pink Squirrel returns, thanks largely to the dedication of artisans and craft mixologists. The secret here is to use clean liquors for the pure testes of almond and chocolate, and the highly concentrated pomegranate syrup locally crafted by Small Hand Foods. No doubt because of these quality ingredients, this cocktail may be even better than the original.
