Reimagining the classics – The Grasshopper

Wow! We shouldn’t have been so surprised by the popularity of the Grasshopper. This classic, created by Philip Guichet in 1918 for his New Orleans restaurant and bar, was highly popular in its time. Rediscovered in the 1950s and 60s, the cocktail virtually disappeared since then in the rush to dryness.

Now, our mixologists have given new life to the Grasshopper. Here is their recipe – give it a try.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz Crème de Menthe (we use Marie Brizard Green Mint liqueur)
  • 1 oz Crème de Cacao (we use Marie Brizard White Cacao No 42)
  • 1 oz Heavy Cream
  • A sprig of mint for garnish

Directions

Place all ingredients except for the garnish into a mixing tin. Fill with ice and shake vigorously. Double strain into a martini glass and top with the mint sprig.
